Out & About: Visit to Apedale Valley Light Railway
Welcome to Barnabas Junction. A suprise trip out from the wife finding this gem of a location…. The Apedale Valley Light Railway which amazingly was ONLY a 15min drive from my hometown. Here is a collection of video’s I recorded during our visit. I had an absolutey fantastic day and i will definately be returning again soon. HISTORY OF THE RAILWAY The Moseley Railway Trust is a registered charity, run entirely by volunteers. It exists to preserve narrow gauge railway equipment and uses the Apedale Valley Light Railway as a means of showing you how this equipment worked in industry before the use of conveyor belts and forklift trucks. The Trust started in 1969 as an after-school club at the Moseley Hall Grammar School in Stockport, only leaving Stockport when a new home was needed in 1998. In 2006, work began at Apedale to build a new railway and museum. The railway opened to the public in 2010. The current objectives for the Trust are to extend this railway to gve a longer ride for our visitors, and to create a fully-accredited museum of industrial railways at Apedale.
